A recent Gartner study found that 78% of CISOs are using 16 or more tools to secure their businesses, resulting in operational inefficiency, duplication of capability, lack of end-to-end visibility, high costs and complex incident management. This is more often through several years of tactical investments and inheritance of legacy than by strategic design. With investment budgets in security at best static or most probably declining in real-terms, CISOs are being asked to do more with less.
